Procter & Gamble Co. has sold Johnson Products Co., its African American hair-care products unit, to a local group of private investors including a husband-and-wife team.
Terms of the deal, announced Tuesday, weren’t disclosed.
Founded in 1954, Johnson Products has sales of more than $23 million a year. The company, whose brands include Gentle Treatment and Ultra Sheen, offers more than 30 hair-care products.

If this group of “private investors” are not nor do not have at least Black/African descent loved ones which holds a sincere interest in Black hair care, then it is once again a shame that we as Black people ALLOWED a take-over we could have prevented and cured.
We really need to wake up and stop letting ourselves devoured in every way.
The couple, Renee Cotrell-Brown & hubby Eric Brown were rivals of Johnson care products. Cotrell-brown’s father started the “ProLine” product line. Hopefully their history in the hair care product line devoted to women of color will continue.
I wish I could have been one of the investors that bought the hair product. I’ve been using that grease for years. Infact i need to buy a new bottle now. LoL. Is there a way to read more about this deal?
Kevin, there is very little info on the actual deal, but you can check out this article on the LA Times website:
